In English 1 Red have begun a new text ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’. The children had to look at the props provided before guessing who they belonged to and what the story may be about. They then wrote lists of what they could see before sharing their findings with each other. After listening to the story the children used associated vocabulary to describe the different characters that were met in the story. Some children even wrote some wonderful character descriptions of their own to describe the giant and illustrated them beautifully.

In RE, 1 Red have been learning all about Baptism in Christianity. A Baptism is a Christian rite of passage that uses water to symbolise spiritual purification, rebirth and initiation into the faith. It signifies the washing away of any sins and shows a person’s public commitment to follow Jesus Christ. The children held their own Baptism in class with a priest, parents of the baby and Godparents, surrounded by all their friends

This isn’t just a garden—it’s a sanctuary designed to support our pupil’s emotional wellbeing and communication skills. From sensory zones filled with lavender and mint to quiet “calm corners” for reflection, this space will be the heart of our SEMH support.

Let’s watch our pupils (and our plants!) bloom together. 
In 1 Red our Art lesson in LMTW was focused on light and shade. The children had to observe which way the light was reflecting on 3D shapes in order to be able to highlight the brightest spot where the light hits correctly and then they were able to create a core shadow by making part of the shape the darkest, so it was looking away from the light. Their images showed where the light was bouncing off the surface underneath the object, hitting the dark side which is called the reflected light. We definitely have some budding artists amongst us as their end products were fantastic!
This week Year 5 have been looking at Sikhism in R.E.
We decided to have our very own Sikh wedding, which the children planned and delivered themselves.
Each team had a project, we had: invitations, menus, decorations, looking after the bride and groom’s families, costumes and the ceremony committee. Every group had a specific job and worked amazingly well as a team to make sure the wedding went off without a hitch!
To celebrate, we had a party afterwards and celebrated the wedding in true Sikh fashion, with lots of music, dancing and laughter.
As part of our Jigsaw theme ‘Relationships’ we have been learning about the important people in our lives and how we can remember them. This week we created a memory box for a pet from a story. All of the children provided thoughtful items to add to the memory box. Well done year 4.
