This week we have been exploring pattern. We have looked at repeating pattern using objects, colour, language and percussion. We created pattern, copied pattern and became pattern detectives looking for pattern in our environment and in stories.
Today, we have made our own animation props! We designed these using the scissor mechanism. We used strong card and split pins to create a moving prop that we can use in our own stop-motion animations. We were very proud of our creations and even got to show Mrs Bramley!
This week in Art, we have been learning about Johannes Gutenberg and his invention, ‘The Printing Press. Then, we created our own printing tiles with different types of lines, layers and patterns.
In Reception, for our activities on World Mental Health Day we decided to have a Yoga session and draw a character using a tutorial on YouTube. Relaxing and so much mindfulness!
As part of our ‘Happily Ever After’ theme we decided to design and create a bag for a fairy. We looked at the different types of materials that would be suitable and the size and shape that would be best for a tiny fairy bag. We then created our design and used various materials and thought about what we would need to hold the bag together. As I’m sure you’ll agree they are amazing!
This week, as part of our Learning Means The World theme, we are looking at Colour Pop in art.
We began by using Ipads to take photos in class and around school, then used the edit features to create black and white images.
Watch this space to find out what we’ll create next by adding colour pop to our images.
We have been working so hard to develop our gross and fine motor skills over the last few weeks. Outside we have been climbing, running, dancing and negotiating obstacles. We have also been using scarves, dough disco, cutting, drawing tutorials and so much more to develop our fine motor skills.
This week Year 5 have been creating some amazing artwork using pastels. We analysed different planets and looked at the colours, textures, patterns and tones within. The children used their sketchbooks to practice various techniques before producing their own pastel planet for our display. We definitely have some amazing and exceptionally talented artists in Year 5!
Welcome to the first post showcasing the amazing work completed by year 1. The children have all settled back into school life with ease and are taking on their new challenges with excitement and creativity. We have been looking at sorting objects in various ways in our maths lessons and ‘The Colour Monster’ has been our book of choice in English where we have been talking about our feelings. Our PE sessions this term are with our sports coach and we are focussing on different ways to move and jump. Our Learning Means the World lessons have been around safe playing with our friends and looking at habitats and life cycles of animals. As you can see we have been really busy but have had so much fun and can’t wait to share more of our experiences with you throughout the year!
