A very busy Spring 1 RE day at Hebburn Lakes!
We have had a perfect pirate week in Reception! Lots of pirate creations such as hats, maps, ships and so much more. Amazing combining of groups, reading, building and spelling words and reading our everyday words. Our sentence writing is developing as well as our independence ☠️⚓️⭐️❤️
As part of our Land Ahoy theme we have been looking at different types of boats and how they move. We looked at pushing and pulling and decided that we would design and build a transport for our boat which would then be used to launch our boat successfully into the water. We used a range of materials and had great fun designing and redesigning our prototypes. We realised that some ideas may sound good but when we tried them they did not work so we had to work as a team to problem solve and complete our mission.
2 Red were given a design brief to use their scientific thinking to plan and make a boat transporter for it to travel on land.
After doing some research and watching boat launches, they worked in teams to try out and problem solve their design ideas.
They considered push and pull forces, how things move, as well as using prior and wider knowledge about boats, movement and floating.
A very busy week in Reception. We have continued our theme ‘Ticket to Ride’. The children have been on imaginary train journeys telling us where they would go and what they might do when they get there. Played ‘stop and go’ where they have to safely drive and manoeuvre between their friends and stop/go when the sign is flashed. Built so many different types of transportation, one of our Drawing Club words, we will show you next week in our workshop! Drawn and painted various types of transport and used our Sounds Write skills to build words and write captions. ✈️❤️⭐️
A fabulous first week back in Reception! Our new theme is ‘Ticket to Ride’ and we have been learning about different reasons why we would use a ticket. We’ve looked at lots of the different tickets children have brought in, designed our own and even had a hunt for golden tickets! We’ve drawn and built transport, used our maths skills and so much more! ⭐️❤️
Take a look at what activities each year group carried out on or RE Day this week!
Today we talked about the Christmas story. We asked who knew the characters, who they were and which character was the most important in the story of Christmas . We discussed which parts the children in Reception are playing in our performance and how Christians often recreate the story in their church at Christmas. Some of the children then recreated the story and built a stable and others decided to paint the nativity scene.
Another busy week! The children are really developing their phonics and maths skills and using these skills in their independent time. Fabulous creative work and amazing team work.
Another fabulous week in Reception. In our learning means the world theme we have been visiting India. We have been looking at Indian culture, traditions and dancing! Our Sounds Write skills are developing and we have had so much fun in the snow!
