1 Red took part in world book day. The school decided to celebrate the work of Roald Dahl and his many brilliantly funny books. We have had lots of fun ranging from dressing up, making BFG dream jars, hunting for golden tickets, book hunt and many more. We have had an amazing day.
Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed World Book day today, based on the famous author Roald Dahl!
We are blown away by the effort and creativity of the costumes and characters that our children have chosen to be this year, from the BFG, Matilda, Miss Trunchbull, Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka and more!
We have spent the day doing lots of wonderful book related activities, especially reading (George’s Marvelous Medicine). Year 5 even created their own revolting recipes and mixed up a special concoction that had us “fizzing” with excitement.
We have hunted down Golden Tickets, went on a trail for book covers, played a class quiz and spent our afternoon trawling through Mr Twits’ disgusting spaghetti.
We cannot wait for next year already!
As you know this years World Book Day theme was Ronald Dahl. We have had so much fun today and as you can see we looked amazing doing it!
The children in 1 Blue have really enjoyed taking part in the various World Book Day activities today. Have a look to see what we have been up to.
7 Red had a fantastic (Mr Fox) time in World Book Day!
Lots of great Roald Dahl inspired activities made it an amazing day!
Which is YOUR favourite Roald Dahl book? …
We have had a fantastic World Book Day! We had a Golden Ticket hunt and found so many tickets. We drew the ‘Enormous Crocodile’ and then played some amazing Roald Dahl games!
We have had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day! We went on a book hunt around school then took part in lots of fun activities including making dream jars and Snozzcumber sandwiches. Everyone in 7 Blue dressed up as a character from a Roald Dahl book and looked amazing!
Today in English, 3 Blue have been creating their own jungle landscapes using paint. Our class book (which we don’t yet know the name of as Miss Clark won’t tell us) describes an old man dreaming about “a jungle full of wild forest animals” so we decided to have a go and create our own jungle landscapes. We looked at two jungle landscape artists: Henri Rousseau and Paul Gaugin for inspiration. We were so proud of out work and had so much fun!
We have been learning to edit and redraft our work in English. The children worked in pairs and travelled around the class visiting 4 different Editing Stations; Grammar Grove, Punctuation Point, Spelling Square and Add More Avenue. Everyone made improvements to their writing. Well Done 7 Blue!
Our current Learning Means The World theme is ‘Ticket To Ride!’ We have been using this throughout our learning. In maths we have looked at numbers, 1 more and 1 less, number bonds, shape and positional language. We have gone on magical train rides telling our friends where we would go and why. We used our sounds and made transport words such as van, bus, truck, sub etc And of course some snowy fun!
