This week in Maths we have been learning to count on from a previous number. We have ‘experienced’ and ‘played’ with it. We know we can put a larger number in our heads and count on, do you know you don’t always have to start counting at 1?
Our current Learning Means The World theme is ‘Ticket To Ride!’ We have been using this throughout our learning. In maths we have looked at numbers, 1 more and 1 less, number bonds, shape and positional language. We have gone on magical train rides telling our friends where we would go and why. We used our sounds and made transport words such as van, bus, truck, sub etc And of course some snowy fun!
Well done to Emillie and James who were the latest winners of our maths problem of the week! Emillie was able to apply her place value knowledge to say which of two numbers was closer to another value. James used his subtracting skills to calculate the difference between two pieces of data. They were just two of the many correct entries so well done to everyone who took part.
Well done to this week’s ‘Problem Solvers of the Week’ who made light work of this week’s reasoning questions! Great work from Ivy-Mae and Mia!
Another great week of lunchtime maths problem-solving had our children thinking carefully whilst they were in the queue for dinner this week. Well done to Mya and George whose excellent reasoning and correct answers were drawn out of the boxes. Great work guys and well done to everyone who took part.
Well done to Lilly and Austin whose correct answers were drawn out of the Key Stage boxes for this week’s Maths ‘Problem Of The Week’. Congratulations guys!
Well done to the first winners of our new maths ‘Problem of the Week‘ activity which encourages children to apply their maths reasoning skills to solve a question from their key phase. From the many correct entries received across Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, congratulations to Tiegan and Darcie whose names were drawn out with the correct answer!
Well done everyone and make sure you all enter next week!
We have had a spoofy fun filled week in Reception. We have created spooky art, recreated some stories and drawn pictures, investigated pumpkins and so much more. We finished it all with a fabulous Halloween party!
This week in Year 4, we had lots of fun in our problem-solving lesson. We gave every letter of the alphabet a number and then had many challenges to complete such as finding the value of different words. We have put a copy of the questions on this post for you to enjoy too!
This week we have been exploring pattern. We have looked at repeating pattern using objects, colour, language and percussion. We created pattern, copied pattern and became pattern detectives looking for pattern in our environment and in stories.
