This is week two of our visit to 🇨🇳 China! We enjoyed exploring noodles with chopsticks, making money wallets, creating Chinese flags, making dragon heads and then having a dragon dance around our school, Chinese writing and of course the food tasting! What a busy week!
As part of our Learning Means The World theme ‘Happy to be Me,’ we have been looking at our 5 senses and how we use each one. Today we focused on the senses: taste, smell, touch and hearing. We tried various different foods and used associated vocabulary to describe how they felt; whether we could hear noises when we were eating the foods; how they tasted and all of the different smells.
The children were amazing as everyone tried foods they had not tasted before. The sour- sweet was the best, we had some funny faces from that experience !
To celebrate World Mental Health day on Monday, Year 4 took some “me time”. In between making our DT projects, we took some time to relax. We had a 5 minute meditation with some lovely soothing music using Tibetan singing bowls and also did some mindfulness colouring and drawing.
As part of our ‘A World of Bright Ideas’ theme, Year 6 have been busy planning a recipe, pitching it to the class and eventually creating a healthy snack. 6 Blue made breakfast bars and 6 Red decided upon fruit kebabs. The end results were fantastic! Well done everyone!
We have read the story of The Gingerbread Man. The children have enjoyed retelling the story, using the play dough to make their own gingerbread men, counting buttons on different gingerbread men and lots more!
The children used jelly tots, chocolate drops and icing sugar to decorate their own gingerbread man biscuit.
We think they did a great job and hope they enjoy eating them as much as they enjoyed decorating them!
World mental health day, we decided to have a Yoga session for our mindfulness ❤️ we chose ‘ We’re Going On A Bear Hunt!’ ❤️❤️ We also talked about how it is so important to keep our minds healthy and happy as well as what we should do if we are worried or sad.
Mornings really are the best part of the day, as this morning’s lovely sunrise over Hebburn and South Tyneside proves. What a lovely way to start the week.
