As part of our Learning Means The World theme, ‘Happy to be me,’ we have been using our senses. We investigated some fruit and vegetables, then we decided to make some soup. We also talked about the Harvest festival and how we celebrate crops that are gathered from the fields and all the foods we eat. We also talked about how foods can be shared within the local community. This afternoon we tasted our soup, it was delicious! A big well done to children who werenât sure if they would like the soup but gave it a try 🥕🧅🥦🫑
In Reception, for our activities on World Mental Health Day we decided to have a Yoga session and draw a character using a tutorial on YouTube. Relaxing and so much mindfulness!
This week Orla returned to school after spending a few months in Newcastle on the Shaun the Sheep Trial this summer. Phoebe, from 2 Blue, completed the whole trail, finding all 115 in the flock, and was rewarded with a lovely certificate which she shared in school today.
The Foundation of Light will be running family learning sessions at Hebburn Family Hub. The 8-week course allows adults to spend time thinking about their own and their childâs mental well-being. Topics covered include, communicating and managing emotions, self-esteem, resilience, anger and stress and is suitable for parents with children aged 7-11 years old.
As well as the 8 parent sessions a further session will run in which children can also attend and join in some fun activities.

Lots of the 6 Blue children have been busy creating their School Council manifestos this week. The prospective candidates outlined their ideas to improve our school to the rest of the class and voting will begin shortly. Good luck everyone!
Welcome to the first post showcasing the amazing work completed by year 1. The children have all settled back into school life with ease and are taking on their new challenges with excitement and creativity. We have been looking at sorting objects in various ways in our maths lessons and ‘The Colour Monster’ has been our book of choice in English where we have been talking about our feelings. Our PE sessions this term are with our sports coach and we are focussing on different ways to move and jump. Our Learning Means the World lessons have been around safe playing with our friends and looking at habitats and life cycles of animals. As you can see we have been really busy but have had so much fun and can’t wait to share more of our experiences with you throughout the year!

The countdown is on⌠Only 2 days until the launch of the St Oswaldâs Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne art trail!The fabulousflock of 115 big and little sheep will take to the streets of the NorthEast for ten weeks ofcelebration in support of St Oswald’sHospice.
The trail map and app will launch very soon, so watch this space if youâre hoping to find them all – including our very own sculpture, lovingly named âOlorâ by the children (âOlorâ is the Latin word for Swan).
We had a fantastic fun day. We explored the ‘fun bus’. Then we danced and played games with ‘startastic’ characters, had ice cream and mastered the assault course!
