As part of our theme ‘Cry Freedom’ we have been discussing slavery and what it means. We looked at different dance motifs and developed them to create a dance piece.
Dear Community,
This is just a quick post to update you about a recent review of Physiotherapy and Occupational Services in South Tyneside.
Schools across South Tyneside have received a letter from South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS foundation Trust informing schools that, following a review of services, as from 1st November 2023 the Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy teams based at Palmer Community Hospital, will no-longer be accepting referrals for the Developmental Coordination Disorder pathway directly from schools.
An intervention pack has been developed, which is to be sent to schools to support their pupils in the identification of difficulties with suggestions of appropriate support, guidance and interventions.
If, following school intervention further and ongoing concerns continue, they are advising that these are discussed with parents whom can seek a referral to the therapy teams via their GP/ other health care professional e.g. school nurse.
On receipt of a referral, Children and Young people will be allocated a direct intervention programme with the appropriate therapy team. If following this intervention DCD is indicated, an onward referral into the DCD pathway will then be processed.
Direct referrals into the DCD pathway will now only be accepted either via Paediatrician, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist.
Children and young people who have been accepted onto the DCD pathway prior to 1.11.23 will continue along the previous process.
If you have any concerns about this change in process, please contact your GP.
Many thanks
Jo Donkin

School Council News
Can I say a big thank you to our school council team 22/23 who had a very busy year. From organising the zones of regulation within the school, to creating a Hebburn Lakes Chant in addition to helping design our very own Hebburn Lakes sheep Olor!
Autumn 2023 – Welcome to the School Council team of 23/24
So far they have been tasked with thinking of some activities that KS2 children in breakfast club would like to be introduced. The children will chat to their friends in class and we will come back together next half term to discuss suitable activities.
Coming soon is a very important job from Mrs Moody. All will be revealed in good time! In the meantime the team will be talking to their friends in class about any issues they feel needs to be raised.
Today in 3 Blue, we have been getting into the Halloween spirit by creating and painting our own pumpkins. We used pointillism to create our pumpkins and selected lots of bright colours in reflection of Halloween. We are so proud of our designs! Happy Halloween Everyone!
A great week for those 100% attenders!
These children are “aiming to be the best they can be” attending school 100% last week.
Today, we have made our own animation props! We designed these using the scissor mechanism. We used strong card and split pins to create a moving prop that we can use in our own stop-motion animations. We were very proud of our creations and even got to show Mrs Bramley!
