In Jigsaw, we have been learning about how to deal with difficult situations. Whilst it is always wonderful to achieve our dreams, it is not always possible. We learned that it is important to be resilient and show a positive attitude when facing disappointment. As part of the challenge we entered the ‘Funniest Potato Competition’, working as part of a team, designing and creating our funny potato.
Here’s what we achieved!
This morning, Year 4 took to the stage to show off all that they have learned about rocks and fossils during their ‘Rocky the Findasaur’ theme. They learned about different types of rocks and soils and how they make up the layers of the Earth. They also learned about the pioneer, Mary Anning and her incredible discovery of the ichthyosaur fossil. She led the way not just for paleontologists but for the recognition of women as scientists too.
.
Well done Year 4 you did a fantastic job!
Councillor David Francis joined us as a special guest in our assembly. He is a local councillor who is a member of the Green Party. He talked to us about what inspired him to want to make a difference in his local community and then presented the Eco Warriers with the Eco -Schools Award flag and certificate.
We look forward to welcoming him back to school so that he can find out more about our Conservation themes.
4 Red have been enjoying learning their numbers in French this term through a variety of games. Playing games allows the children to develop their speaking and listening skills in a fun way. Year 4 have been revising their numbers to 21 playing the traditional “goose game” jeu de l’oie as well as the well known game ‘connect 4’.

[Year 4 have been busy problem solving in Maths this week. They needed to use their multiplication knowledge to help them arrange four numbers (1, 2, 3 and 21) on a grid to make a diagonal, vertical or horizontal line. They could only put a number card on a square with a multiple of that number or factor of that number. The children really enjoyed solving this problem, finding as many different ways as they could. Well done Year 4!
The theme of this Years Mental Health Week is ‘Let’s Connect’. Connection is vital for our wellbeing. Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections and Miss Smith from the Healthy Minds Team came into school to today and delivered and assembly to encourage our children (and staff) to connect with others in healthy, rewarding, and meaningful ways.
To celebrate Mental Health Week in school and to raise awareness of the importance of children’s mental health we have completed lots of different activities in class through out the week.
