6 Blue Maths were exploring decimals this week by trying our hand at some classroom world records. We began by thinking about why decimals are useful in the world – many sports use tenths and hundredths of seconds to time races and some sports even require milliseconds! From trying on T-shirts in the quickest time possible to building towers and typing the alphabet on a qwerty keyboard, the children enjoyed the challenges and it helped us to use and apply decimals in real-life contexts. Well done everyone – we might need some practice with breaking some of the records, particularly Mr Campbell!
